THORWALD VENEBERG, former professional cyclist and graduated Human Movement Scientist. He was a member of the Rabobank Professional Cycling Team in the period 2001-2007.

The experience with physical strains as cyclist in combination with the scientific and mental challenges in his study was the perfect basis for his current job as Technical Director at the KNWU (Royal Dutch Cycling Union). Within the Union he is responsible for the sports-technical policy. Focus point is the preparation and education of new talent in all cycling disciplines; road racing, cyclo-cross, track cycling, BMX, Mountainbike and para-cycling. Besides that he and his team are responsible for guiding the top athletes towards winning  medals in European-, World and Olympic Championships.

Thorwald strongly believes that science is a crucial factor in developing talent en achieving top performance. He therefor hired embedded scientists within every discipline and level with the goal of applying science for the development of the Dutch Cycling sports.
